JAVIS completed the requirements for achieving the SEI Capability Maturity Model (Level 2) in November of 2001. The Software Engineering Institute (or SEI) is a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense through the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics.

The importance of compliance with the SEI Capability Maturity Model is that doing so offers Quality Assurance on products and services. "Quality software that is produced on schedule and within budget is a critical component of U.S. defense systems. " JAVIS" is acutely aware of the importance of evolving best business practices that move from inefficent, labor-intensive and often ad hoc processes to a "well-managed, technology-supported discipline."

Through the Joint Application Development (JAD) process, configuration management, and other well-defined processes JAVIS upholds these demanding standards.
